The 2010-2011 academic school year at MMS got off to a great start! This year, instead of bringing in all students on the first day, we brought back returning students on Wednesday and the new students will come on Friday. This change servedtthree purposes.
Firstly, it allowed teachers to get the more “experienced” students back into the groove of things and pick up where they left off in June; secondly, by Friday, with the returning students already nicely focused on their work, more attention can be paid to the new students – specifically ensuring that they are not feeling too overwhelmed by the new environment or stressed because this is the first time they’ve been away from their parents. Lastly, by starting school on Friday, the new students will be relieved to know that they only have one day way from Mom and/or Dad and then they have them back for two whole days!
The year has just begun, but we are all really excited about everything we have planned!
